As if my battle for a matching foundation wasn't enough, I also have sensitive, acne prone skin.
Given my previous success with a benzoyl peroxide cleanser, I figured "how could I go wrong?" so I picked this one up from Kmart one day. Big mistake.
Clean and Clear's Continuous Control Acne Cleanser is hands down, without a doubt, the worst cleanser I have ever had the misfortune of putting on my face!
Firstly, it has menthol in it, which serves no purpose other than to irritate the skin, and my lord did it do that well. Burns the skin and makes the eyes water.
Secondly, the texture of the cleanser is all wrong; it's a thick, creamy cleanser. When you have greasy skin, the last thing you want is a thick creamy cleanser on your face.
Thirdly, rinsing it off is virtually impossible, you'll wash it off and want to wash your face again because it just doesn't feel clean.
Finally, and the worst part of all this, it made absolutely no difference to the breakouts I was experiencing at the time!
My understanding is that in the US and Canada this cleanser is sold as a 10% benzoyl peroxide solution, ouch! Here in Australia it's sold as a 5% solution, which I think is harsh enough.
If you have sensitive skin, if you have acne prone skin, if you have skin on your face at all, run, run away as fast as you can from this product, in fact from any Clean and Clear product, because they're all pretty much the same crap.
